In our busy and sometimes stressful lives, the lavender eye pillow is a useful little ally. Just 15 minutes to close your eyes and breathe in the relaxing lavender scent can help relieve tension and encourage better sleep. It’s been great to see the pillows received so warmly from you all and become one of our top selling gift products. We really love making them and we’re particularly proud of the steps we’ve taken to make our eye pillows sustainable sourced and made. Here’s a closer look at the making of the Soap Folk Lavender Eye Pillow.
Lavender Eye Pillows are a natural aid for relaxation and better sleep routine. Gently weighted, they help block out light and apply soothing pressure to the forehead and eye area. The enveloping scent of lavender flowers, even more intense if the pillow is briefly warmed, is naturally calming. They are a great as a quick time out, especially if staring at a screen for too long, as winding moment at the end of the day, or as part of yoga and meditation routine.
The Soap Folk Lavender Eye Pillow is made from organic cotton and printed here in the UK using a sustainable digital print process. The pillow fabric feature the beautiful lavender design from our lavender & oatmilk soap wraps. Each pouch is filled with organic linseed and lavender buds.
We like the idea of keeping what we make under one roof. With textile manufacturing, even in the UK coming under the spotlight for poor working conditions and employment rights, making our products ourselves is the best reassurance of all. Also, we find that we work better together, are able to help each other, and are more creative.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been transforming the old Soapery into our new design studio - it’s a lovely space to work, with big windows and doors letting in lots of natural light. From here, we will be experimenting with new products and increasing our range of textile products.
It’s been wonderful to welcome Anthea into the Soap Folk team. A former marine biologist, commited wild swimmer, super star mother of three, talented children’s clothes maker (and she makes a mean cinnamon bun). You can see her in action, making our pillows in this video.
